Created to Worship and Obey

I had the opportunity to speak in elementary chapel this morning.

Here is what we talked about....

God spoke into existence                                           the day

the night

the land

the sea

the birds of the air

the creatures

God created and formed into existence male and female.

God spoke creation into existence. God created and formed man into existence.

Male and female he created them in his image. Gen. 1:28

God gave them the mandate to be fruitful and multiply. God gave male and female a purpose for living. Gen. 1:29

God gave Adam a job. His job was to cultivate and keep. The hebrew translation of cultivate and keep is worship and obey. Gen. 2:15

God created us to worship and obey Him.

God created us to worship Him.

How can we worship God? How can we praise God?

Worship is ascribing to God his worth, glory, and honor. Praising God is our response to what God has done for us on the cross.

We can worship God through our thoughts, words, actions, and prayers.

God created us to worship Him.

God created us to obey Him.

How can we obey?

We obey God by honoring his word and commandments.

What is the greatest commandment that we are given?
Love God and Love Others

We obey God by

We are created to obey.

The sole purpose for all human beings living here on this earth is to worship and obey God by ascribing to God all of HIS glory and honor.

World Changers

World Changers is coming to Henderson, NC. I was blessed to sit in on a meeting tonight discussing World Changers coming to Henderson to work on homes through out our community.

About 200 youth from throughout the nation will be staying at Crossroads Christian School and working in homes through the community. Churches are going to sponsor these homes and provide meals for the students.

This is such a great ministry to our area. I am excited for the opportunity CCS will have to minister to these students as they minister to our area. I am already thinking of ways that our camp kids will be able to learn from these students and encourage them.

Here is a link to World Changers if you would like more information about this awesome ministry that works on homes in the US and around the world.

I am Blessed!

When I was 16, I loved Rachel Lampa's song "I am Blessed". Every time the song came on in the car, I would joyfully belt out the song... out of tune I might add. Someone gave me her C.D. and I would play the song over and over in my 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier.

I was reminded of that song today as I thought through how the Lord has blessed me.

He blessed me with free curriculum for our summer camps that fits the camp themes.

He blessed me with a beautiful day that allowed me and my kids to stay outside for over an hour.

He blessed me with a coworker that encouraged me in my job today.

He blessed me with new clothes, literally left in front of my car.

He blessed me with a conversation with a friend that helped me to organize our sports camps and provide resources for the camps.

He blessed me with more camp enrollments today.

He blessed me with a wonderful church family to worship and study God's word with tonight.

He blessed me with a conversation with a mother today about her daughter's spiritual growth. Mother said to daughter while explaining Disney World, "Some people think that Disney World is the greatest place to be." Her 6-year-old daughter responded, "No Mommy, the greatest place to be is with Jesus in heaven!" Truth spoken through the mouth of a babe!

He blessed me with the gift of roses that I was able to see and smell all day long!

Black and White Day!

It seems as though every blog day I talk about only summer program preparation. Honestly, my days are consumed with preparing for summer. The closer our reveal day gets, the more excited I get. I am consistently praying for the Lord's blessing upon the kids and summer staff.

Today, I got to see the flyer that I made come to life. The printing company that we decided to use did a superb job! I wanted to cry when I opened that box. The reality of the nearness of summer camp set in today. The website is finished and parents will start enrolling in January.

Now our major task is PROMOTION! If you would like to hang our flyer in your business or would like to help us PROMOTE summer in some way, please comment and let me know! We have got to get the word out and get it out fast! This is going to take the involvement of our whole school and community!

Homecoming dress up was Black and White day today! The kids looked so cute in their formal dress. We also played the bobble head game during lunch. The kids had a pedometer attached to their hats and they had to bobble their heads up and down. The kid with the most number on the pedometer won! HILARIOUS! I laugh thinking about it!

Web Master!

Today felt good to get back into a schedule and back to school. I spent most of my day working on the summer program. I am on a schedule to get everything ready to present to the parents and public.

As I stated in an earlier blog, I am working on trying to build a website for parents to be able to register online. It has been really hard for me to figure out how to build a form that will email me the data. I had given up hope on being able to do this. Today, I found a website that will enable me to build a registration form online and it will email me the results. For the low low price of FREE! Can I get a whoop whoop?!?! Praise the LORD! My parents will now be able to register their child online!

Please continue to pray for the Lord's blessings upon camp. Pray that He will send plenty of campers and that we may impact them for the name of Christ. Pray for their hearts and for God to prepare them.

Tomorrow my goal is to work on getting information together for the churches.

I am getting excited for the big reveal of summer camp. Can't wait to show you guys!

Keep praying!

Meetings, Meetings, Meetings, and Dinner

Today was a day full of unexpected but good meetings. I met with Lisa our school accountant and discussed budget needs for the summer program. I met with our headmaster this afternoon to continue to discuss camp and make some decisions. I then had another budget meeting after school today. My meetings were good and I felt like we got a lot accomplished for summer and next school year. I can see everything coming together. We are getting so close to putting everything open to the public and for registration. The busy summer will be here before we know it.

After school today I had the opportunity to go to dinner with an old friend of mine who is coming to SEBTS to study in the DMin program. It was good to catch up and talk about old high school friends and memories. It is neat to see what God is doing through the life of he and his wife, and to see the journey that the Lord has brought them through. It is also amazing to see how the Lord brought the three of us from meeting in middle school to seminary grads and now working in ministry. I praise God for what HE has done in my friends life and bringing him to do doctoral work.

Through seminary I met several people who are now scattered throughout the world working as pastors, ministry leaders, and missionaries. What a blessing to have friends serving throughout the world in ministry! I never could have imagined knowing someone on just about every continent and every state in the U.S.A.. Only God could orchestrate such a great thing!

Praise HIM!

Building Websites is NOT for Sissies!

As I am gearing up for the summer program, I have been working on various promotion tasks for the summer camps. One thing that I have desired is to complete is a website that enables parents to register online. I think that it will make the registration process so much easier.

Well, big bad Bonnie decided that since she took a web design class in HIGH SCHOOL that she could build such a basic web page and it would be easy as ABC. I am hear to say YEAH RIGHT! I downloaded my free trial of dreamweaver. I opened it up thinking that I could get it done throughout my day. Well to my surprise dreamweaver was a completely new language that Bonnie Kathryn Hunter did not speak! I have much more respect for web designers now!

The website task has not been completed, but I have full faith that the Lord will point me in the right direction of the person that can help me create a professional looking website that will enable hundreds of parents to enroll their child into summer camp.

Yes you read me right... I said hundreds. As the date gets closer to the time where we will open the first summer camp week, I am getting knots of nervousness in my stomach. I have been praying that we will average at least a hundred or more campers per week. I know that God will send the right children and the right amount of interns to meet our budget needs.

Things I am praying for: Website, Parents of summer Campers, summer campers, Family of Opal McWhorter, Peter and Jessica Cooke, My family, friends, and students, Raleigh Road Baptist Church.

Love,

Bonnie Kathryn

Day 3

Back to School for the Kiddos and Me!

Today was our first day back to school from Christmas break. It felt good to get back to somewhat of a routine. However, since school was cancelled two days before our break due to an early snowfall the kids are making up exams the next two days. This means that I had 7th grade from lunch time until the 3:00 bell. It was certainly different having them all afternoon rather than the usual 50 minute class period. Tomorrow...8th grade.

Aftercare was a slim day with kids. They are learning the new organization system for their games. Yesterday on the teacher workday I labeled where each toy went. I dared them to mess anything up today! They did well. The kids seemed to proud that their shelves were organized and everything had a place.

I came home with a bit of a stomach ache today. Tonight I have been relaxing watching a chick flick classic "Fools Rush In". :-)

Thanks be to God: Mom called and said that Daddy was driving his tractor home from the hay field. Mom followed in the car and noticed that Daddy seemed to be wobbling. She said that at one point she thought that he was about to drive the tractor off into a steep ditch. Daddy admitted he thought the tractor was going to go into the ditch as well. When they arrived at home Daddy noticed a bolt (or something) that holds the front tires on was broken. Oh man! If that front tire had come off the tractor... Praise God it didn't and Daddy is safe!

Things I am praying for today: Praise Daddy is Safe, Raleigh Road BC, Women's Bible study at church, presentation of the summer camp schedule to the public....praying for a strong response! I found out one of my college friends' 5 year old little girl passed away (Elizabeth Cooke) Peter and Jessica Cooke, My students, Family, and Friends.
