100th Day and More

Snow, snow, and more snow shut down the South East this week. My home state of Georgia was in a state of emergency. There are many stories of people and kids locked in their cars over night. I was encouraged to hear many stories of people who came to the rescue of others. One of my favorite was of a Dad who walked 6 miles to spend the night at his daughter's elementary school so she would not be afraid.

This week was the 100th day of school for us. Our school's homecoming also fell on this week. On the actual 100th day of school we had early release due to the snow and we followed that day with two snow days. Needless to say, I did not get to do all the activities that I wanted to do for the 100th day.

Here is what we did accomplish...

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of our chart we created, so here is the Pinterest picture that gave me the idea. The kids loved completing this activity.

You can see a glimpse of it in this picture... I'm bummed I don't have a picture. I think my favorite response was "I would not want 100 girlfriends." Bahahaha!

Bubblegum in the bubblegum machine. We painted 10 pieces of bubblegum in each machine and counted by tens. You can find this worksheet in this pack on TpT from My Heart Belongs to Kindergarten. There are a lot of really fun and great activities in this pack! I wish I had time to use more of them. :-)

I made these little gift certificates to give to my kinders. We pretended like it was our graduation ceremony. I called them up one by one, shook their hand, and handed them the "100 Day Diploma". They were soooo proud. I loved seeing their little smiles!

We drew pictures of us now and what we will look like in 100 years. This worksheet also came in the pack from My Heart Belongs to Kindergarten.

We responded to the writing prompt: "If I had a $100..." I started the writer's workshop by brainstorming as a group about what we would do with $100. This helps with "I don't know what to write about."

Do you find yourself surrounded by your kiddos with questions? :-) I think I was doing five different things in this picture.

During homecoming we compete with bulletin boards and banners. Our theme was winter wonderland. Here is my board and banner.

We made these snowmen the Friday before our snow week. Make these and you might have snow days the next week! :-)

Even though it was a short week, I had a great 100th day. Have a great 100th day!

My questions for you:
What do you have planned for the 100th day?
Did you have a snow day week?
What was your favorite media story about the snow-pocalypse in GA?

  3. Bonnie,
You got more done than I did on our 100th day. We dismissed early due to snow too. It will be a day we won't forget. I love the pictures. Is the homecoming for basketball? I love the snowmen!

    1. I ended up starting on Tuesday (which was the 100th day) then finishing on Friday when we returned. Yes, we celebrate homecoming for basketball. The snowman trashed my room, but did turn out cute! Thanks!
