Cookout and The Bachelor

There is nothing like filling my stomach with a cheese burger and fries from Cookout and settling in for a night of watching the drama unfold on The Bachelor. Emily is by far my favorite! She speaks with maturity and class. The fact that she lives in North Carolina helps a little too!

I know that many of you roll your eyes at the thought of watching the Bachelor. However, the hopeless romantic in me loves to watch the women go on romantic dates. I agree with most of the Bachelor critics in that the women are emotional and just plain silly. They fall head over heals in love with the Bachelor before they finish their first date with the guy. To me, that is silly and stupid.

However, I am not in their shoes and the producers design this show to provoke fast emotions. I believe that fast emotions are not wise and not based on a solid foundation.

Things that I love about the show... I have a degree in sociology. The sociologist in me loves watching the dynamics of how the women interact with each other and with the Bachelor. And... of course I like the romance...even if it doesn't always last. :-)

What are your thoughts on the bachelor? Who is your favorite and why?

Okay... Here it is.... Emily for Bachelorette! (if she doesn't win)

Jehovah Jireh

I really enjoyed worship with the people of God today.

This morning Brett finished the Psalm 139 series. He walked the congregation through the names of God. Hearing the names of God pointed me towards God's faithfulness, power, and grace in my life.

Elohim: The Powerful God

Adonai: The Lord: God the Owner

El Elyon: God most high

El Shaddai: Almighty God

Yahweh: Israel's covenantal God

Jehovah Jireh: The Lord Provides

Jehovah Rophe: The Lord Heals

Jehovah Nissi: The Lord is my banner: Gives us Victory

Jehovah Mekadesh: The Lord who Sanctifies You

Jehovah Shalom: The Lord is Peace

Jehovah Tsidkenu: The Lord is our righteousness.

Jehovah Rohi: The Lord is my Shepherd

Jehovah Shammah: The Lord is there

Truth: God has revealed Himself so that we can know Him personally.

There is such a power just reading the names of God. Here is a link to listen to the message.

Guest Blogger Nancy Hunter

Love a relaxing Saturday. I made Paula Dean's Chicken Florentine tonight for dinner! Yum! Yum!

On today's blog we will have a guest blogger. :-)

My mom emailed me last night and her email is just too funny! (Mom don't shoot me for posting this!)

Here is a portion:
"Oh, one last thing.......He (Daddy) got the remote while I was checking my email. Guess what we are watching.......one guess.....HORSE TV!  He turns the volume up loud, then down low, then loud again....oh my!  At least it is not a cow auction!  It is old time country music; a bunch of old people sitting around like the Gaither Homecoming.  Right now, it's Vince Gill....lots of steel guitar.......he looks like he's about 18.  Actually I do like Vince Gill.  Turn it up, daddy, turn it up!!  Reckon he will dance with me? lol

Oh my, I think Bill Anderson is up next. You don't know Bill Anderson....Whispering Bill. Wait, wait.....Roy Clark....Hee Haw!!   There's Charlie Pride.....Oh my goodness, guess who is sitting by him.  It is that comedian from Georgia. I can't remember his name. The one Brett showed us on You Tube.  He looks about 30 years or so. Oh wait, wait, now they are telling funny stories. Oh look, look.....it's Little Jimmy Dickens. He looks about 70 years old. He's always been old. Now, some lady is talking about using Preparation H on her face.

Polka Dance Fest is next. I draw the line!!!!!"

Oh to have been a fly on the wall!

Thanks Paula Dean for Dinner!

Puzzle Explosion

How did the my back table of my classroom get to look like this?

Well...

It all started with this....

One of my students put this together, but it was missing pieces. So, she got another puzzle out to find the missing pieces.

We found some of the missing pieces, but not all of the missing pieces. So, we did this..

Then this....

Then this today...

So, today we decided to take all the puzzles out and work on them to find missing pieces. Yes, we have been somewhat successful. We are determined to find all the puzzle pieces! I am determined to frame them if we find the missing puzzle pieces.

We worked almost three hours today on the puzzles. I am impressed with the diligence of my after-school kids

Therefore, we end up with a table that has exploded puzzle pieces.

I'm Stuffed

Today was all about stuffing.

With the help of some co-workers and my precious after-school kids. I was able to label, address, and stuff 320 envelopes with flyers and information about Summer Camp. God is so good! Bulk mailing is hard work! I would not have finished this project if it was not for my after care kids helping me!

The mailing went to the 320 local churches in Henderson, Oxford, Youngsville, Wake Forest and other surrounding areas. Hopefully this mail out will get the word out to local people that Colts Kids camp is open to the community!

Keep Praying Registrations starts in 3 days!

Oh! and tonight I stuffed myself with Mexican Cuisine! My favorite.

Puzzles

My kids and I have been working on puzzles recently. It all started when we put together a puzzle that was missing some pieces. We decided if we put all of the puzzles we have together, then we might find other missing pieces. I will post pictures as we complete the puzzles. We have put together three already. We are working on a little mermaid one right now.

I heard we had 61 one kids out sick today. This is a lot considering we only have 234 enrolled in school. All these germs are going around. The staff is doing everything that we can to try to prevent sickness. We have been wiping down counters and desks with lysol! Lysol is a schools best friend!

I am home tonight trying to still recover. Everyone stay well and get better!

Chapel Excitement

Today, I was able to speak in elementary chapel. We discussed Matt. 22:37

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and all your mind"

We discussed why Jesus calls this the greatest commandment. Every commandment falls under the jurisdiction of loving the Lord with all of our hearts, souls, minds, and strength. We must realize the sinful condition of our heart, see our need for Christ, honor him with our thoughts, learn his word, and serve him with our bodies.

I was then able to talk about Summer Camp and encourage the kids the invite their friends! Hoping that the kids will continue to get excited and invite tons of friends! The kids seemed pretty excited today as we talked about the camps and the fun things going on.

I sent an email out today encouraging parents to invite their friends via Facebook or by passing out flyers a their work.

Precious Moment: I had a child cry today. Wait! Wait! Before you start Oh Bonnie! He cried today because he did not want to leave aftercare. Oh! Steal my heart right now! Granted we were watching a movie today that he wanted to see the end, still the moment was precious.

Watching the State of the Union address now. It is interesting watching the different pairs of Democrats and Republicans that are sitting together tonight. I find it funny that McCain and Kerry have chosen to sit together.

Another one of my favorite State of the Union addresses is watching the facial expression of the Speaker of the House and the Vice President. This year with the new speaker John Boehner it is quite funny! Boehner looks like an old Baptist enduring a Rock Concert!

Sick Kids + Sick Teacher

Honestly, I am doing better. Colds are just annoying and cause your brain to have momentary bouts of forgetfulness. I was talking to different people today and I am not quite sure all that I said. Hopefully, everything that I said today was comprehendible.

I am getting excited about registration starting for Camp next Monday. I hope that I can encourage our students to invite their family and friends. I have an opportunity tomorrow to speak at CCS chapel. I will be able to share the gospel and be able to talk with the kids about camp. I plan to be loud, goofy, and excited! :-)

In the process of trying to find ways to promote camp, someone introduced me to this website. www.homeinhenderson.com Check it out! I think that it is a pretty neat website.

Common Cold Season

A few weeks ago, I was bragging about how I had not spent my first year as a teacher sick. Most first year teachers spend their first year sick and building up an immunity to sickness.

NEVER SHALL I BRAG ABOUT SUCH A THING AGAIN!

I am sitting here with the common cold. I do believe that I caught the cold from some of my students.

Puffy Red Eyes, Stuffy nose, Sneezing, Tissues all around...yep all the signs point towards a common cold.

I am hoping the cold medicine that I took will help me feel better.

Despite the cold, I was able to spend the day with an old friend of mine. It was good to see her and spend the day shopping. :-) Hey! A girl has got shop!

Any first year teachers out there with stories?

Homecoming Memories

Tonight ended our Homecoming celebration at CCS. Homecoming brought back so many memories of old traditions at HHS....

working on the homecoming float until late at night....

long cheerleading practices to get ready for the pep-rally....

goody bags for the football players.....

painting the run through banner (homecoming meant we would always make it bigger and better...we would see how tall we could get it on our run through poles)

wearing corsages my mom made

the parade

riding in the back of Big Al's convertible for the homecoming parade

homecoming court walking in the arms of my Daddy.

OH sweet memories. I love the new memories that I am making at CCS. CCS students play games during lunch time. It was quite hilarious watching them shake ping-pong balls out of a kleenex box strapped to their backsides! Want a laugh? Just try it!

CCS decks out the stage in the cafetorium with beautiful decorations and everybody watches the homecoming court parade into the cafetorium the girls looking beautiful and the boys looking handsome. This year was neat seeing the students that I have grown to love so much. I am so proud of them as they play in the game, cheer the team on, and represent their classes for homecoming,

God has blessed me at CCS.

From Thursday: God blessed me with the opportunity to share the gospel with three of my students and spend some quality time with another student by putting together a puzzle.

Black and White Day!

It seems as though every blog day I talk about only summer program preparation. Honestly, my days are consumed with preparing for summer. The closer our reveal day gets, the more excited I get. I am consistently praying for the Lord's blessing upon the kids and summer staff.

Today, I got to see the flyer that I made come to life. The printing company that we decided to use did a superb job! I wanted to cry when I opened that box. The reality of the nearness of summer camp set in today. The website is finished and parents will start enrolling in January.

Now our major task is PROMOTION! If you would like to hang our flyer in your business or would like to help us PROMOTE summer in some way, please comment and let me know! We have got to get the word out and get it out fast! This is going to take the involvement of our whole school and community!

Homecoming dress up was Black and White day today! The kids looked so cute in their formal dress. We also played the bobble head game during lunch. The kids had a pedometer attached to their hats and they had to bobble their heads up and down. The kid with the most number on the pedometer won! HILARIOUS! I laugh thinking about it!

Dog the Bounty Hunter's Wife!

Going to bed late is for the birds! Last night I stayed up to 2:00 am working on Colts Kids Camp website. We are 5 days away until the summer camp reveal! I know you guys are itching to find out about summer camp!

Today, we started celebrating homecoming again. We postponed our homecoming last week due to the snow/ice. Today was supposed to be celebrity day.

You guys know about my love of the show "Dog the Bounty Hunter". One of my students dressed up as Beth Chapman (Dog's Wife). HA! I loved it!

The students played chubby bunny during lunch time! This was quit funny considering someone bought the oversized marsh-mellows. One marsh-mellow was enough to make someone GAG! (sorry I don't have pictures of Chubby Bunny)

Today I saw, Cher, Nacho Libre, Beth Chapman, Olive from Pop-Eye, Michael Jackson, Legally Blonde, Batman, Spiderman, Tom Cruise, Hanna Montana, Toy Story Characters, and the cutest Snow White!

Below are some of my cute kiddos!

The infamous Beth Chapman!

Welcome to the New BLOG!

I am glad that I made the move over to wordpress. I was able get my own domain name. www.bonniekathryn.com .

Hopefully, the new blog will be easier for my 5 readers to leave comments. You can also subscribe to the new blog. A subscription will send you email reminders every time I update. I believe that you can set the preferences to only send you an email once a week or once a day.

If you have a blog, send me your domain name so that I can subscribe to you. I would love to read your blog!

Now for today’s blessing….

The Lord provided me with the opportunity to teach a ladies Sunday School this morning. He knows exactly how to minister to my heart. While my I love my job teaching my students, I am passionate about reaching and teaching women.

It has been awhile since I have been able to be in a teaching setting and I have missed the fellowship with ladies. Teaching for me is worshipful. While I am teaching, I feel such an intimacy with the Lord and a connection with the sweet ladies that are near me.

Today I was humbled by the presence of these ladies. We talked about leaving a generational legacy. Josiah broke the generational sin that went before him, and decided to follow after the Lord. What generational legacy am I leaving?

I have been a believer for 13 years now. These ladies who were quite a bit older than I am, have been followers of Christ for 40, 50, 60, and even 70 years! Wow! Can you imagine the wealth of wisdom and knowledge that they have?

Thank you Lord for blessing me with the opportunity to fellowship with a group of ladies that have been a believer for the majority of their lives!

Memory Lane Cheesecakes!

Growing up my favorite dessert was cheese cake! Especially the petite cheese cakes that my grandmother Kitty would make for me. When I turned sixteen, she baked sixteen petite cheese cakes for me to enjoy. I guarded those cheesecakes and dared anyone to touch them.

Recently I have been thinking about the cheesecakes and craving their deliciousness! When my Sunday School class announced that we were having a pot luck party to celebrate a new year and God's faithfulness through last year, I knew that this would be the perfect time to have Kitty's cheesecakes.

So, today I baked them! My first bite into the cheese cakes was flooded with sweet memories of eating Kitty's cheesecakes.

However, there was one big difference between my cheese cake and Kitty's.

Scroll to find out.....

Short Blog Day

Wanted to make sure I got something up before the end of the day....

I spent my day ordering flyers and trying to work on a blog/website for the summer camp program. I decided to use wordpress for the summer camp blog. Wordpress is a little more complicated in its formatting, but I think the setup will prove to be more useful for our needs for camp.

I am considering moving this blog over to wordpress. What do you think?

I don't think that it would disrupt all 5 of my readers too much. :-)

Sorry for the short boring "blog day". I will leave you with cute pictures of my kids at the basketball game today. Maybe cute kids will make up for the short blog? Deal? okay! Deal!

Web Master!

Today felt good to get back into a schedule and back to school. I spent most of my day working on the summer program. I am on a schedule to get everything ready to present to the parents and public.

As I stated in an earlier blog, I am working on trying to build a website for parents to be able to register online. It has been really hard for me to figure out how to build a form that will email me the data. I had given up hope on being able to do this. Today, I found a website that will enable me to build a registration form online and it will email me the results. For the low low price of FREE! Can I get a whoop whoop?!?! Praise the LORD! My parents will now be able to register their child online!

Please continue to pray for the Lord's blessings upon camp. Pray that He will send plenty of campers and that we may impact them for the name of Christ. Pray for their hearts and for God to prepare them.

Tomorrow my goal is to work on getting information together for the churches.

I am getting excited for the big reveal of summer camp. Can't wait to show you guys!

Keep praying!

Snow Day #2

Day two of being out of school and I had cabin fever! I took the opportunity to catch up on some things that I haven't had time to do.

I cleaned out my closet and decided to get rid of a few things.
Did I make a good choice on these shoes?
I washed all my clothes and organized them by color.
Shoes are looking good!
Now for the socks....
Everything in my house is clean.
How can all these socks not have a mate?
Finally I reorganized my pantry.

Can you tell that I am ready to go back to school tomorrow? :-)

I was able to get out today. We had LifeReach at church tonight. Our church does a monthly evangelism project on Wednesday nights. We write cards, pray for the church, go out and do evangelism and visitation, and make phone calls. I enjoy these nights. It brings our church closer together and challenges us to reach out to our community. Tonight, I wrote cards to people that have recently visited our church and to people that we have not seen in Sunday School in awhile.

Thats all for today! I will sleep well tonight!

Snow Day #1

Schools Out for SNOW! No wait..... for ICE.

I enjoyed a day at home relaxing and a tiny bit of cleaning. I got caught up watching "The Bachelor." Already my favorite is Emily from North Carolina. She appears to be the epitome of a Southern Belle. The birthday girl Michelle has potential of causing DRAMA later on....we shall see!

Any handymen out there?

I was washing clothes today and my washer got off track. I rushed to go reposition my clothes and this is what I found....

My washer is leaking water! I am hoping that this is just because my clothes were off balance in the washing machine.

I am glad that I found it! I quickly mopped up the water and place a towel to catch anymore water that may escape. I am really hoping that I am not about to have to buy a new washing machine. :-(

What do you think? Is the water due to the clothes being off balance? Or am I about to have to shell out some money for a new washer?

Day 9

P.S. School is out again tomorrow....I may have to go brave the roads. Cabin fever is starting to set in!

Homecoming: Duct Tape Day

In anticipation of snow and ice, we closed the school today at 12:00. We are still waiting on the snow and ice... wink wink. I am not complaining about the short day at school though.

My afternoon consisted of Subway, Best Buy dreaming, a cat nap, cooking a delicious dinner of Cajun Butter Chicken, Cheesy Potatoes, and Butter Beans. Beans, Beans, good for your heart... :-)

I have now settled in watching the College National Championship game. Can't bring myself to cheer for Auburn....so Go Ducks! Quack! Quack!

Don't worry the Bachelor is being recorded. :-)

Below are some pictures from Duct Tape Day. Gotta love my kids creativity!
